Now that the new season of Family Feud has started, and we've been treated to the new shows over the past few weeks, what are your thoughts/opinions on what you've seen so far? (Back up your answers w/ explanations...no "I hate this..." statements without saying WHY you feel the way you do)
This is how I feel:
PROS:
- Steve Harvey has been able to engage with the contestants, and provide a lot of humor through his dialogue and ability to ad-lib when the opportunity comes.
- Elimination of the Bullseye round has proved beneficial in two ways...1) to viewers who enjoy the traditional "Feud" format and 2) to families who win Fast Money, due to the fact that they know what set amount of money they can win.
- The continuation of offering a car to 5-time champs helps to provide incentive to families to try and make some degree of long-term effort over the course of multiple episodes in order to win this prize, as well as multiple denominations of $20,000 Fast Money wins.
CONS:
- Where did the family introductions go? I enjoyed hearing about where the families were from & what they did at the BEGINNING of the show. By trying to ask the families this information during gameplay, it just feels out of place & jumbles the focus from the gameplay.
- The theme...well...haven't we all been waiting for either the Feud '94 music package or ANY actual cues that were made to be stand-alone cues, and not edits of the main theme?
- The new font used on the big board and the family podium readouts appears to be extremely bland and out of place. I feel that the last time the font looked good was Karn's version, as it still had that Haettenschweiler font-type look (which saw little variation since the show's premiere in 1976)...long & thin but still readable. Now every word or number looks ultra-plain.
Overall, I have enjoyed the new season of Family Feud, and am generally happy with what I've seen.
