1. Don't ask to trade for money, nor accept money in any trade. This is illegal.
2. A lot of traders don't trade for blank tapes either. Tapes cost around $1 each, and are easily bought in bulk.
3. Establish what brand of tape/DVD your trader uses, and plan on purchasing a brand name tape/DVD (Sony, Maxell, etc.) out of respect to your trader. Do NOT record shows for your trader over old tapes/on DVD-RW.
4. When setting up a trade, be sure to follow the rules of the person you are trading with. When in doubt/if you don't know, ASK!
5. When you get set away, be sure to mail your tape too. I know this sounds stupid, but the fastest way out of this hobby is to try to get something for nothing.
6. When mailing, use a reliable service. I always use Priority mail. Get delivery confirmation, so you will know when the person you're trading with gets their tape/DVD. The post office is human and makes mistakes too. Use Media Mail only at a last resort (as a respectful gesture to who you're trading with).
7. We all have lives outside of trading, If you feel that you're going to be late with sending your tapes out (at a time other than what should've been already established between the traders) , e-mail your trader and explain.
Rob, add as you see needed and sticky please
